Ugly Smoothie-1
I feel so sorry for this smoothie. It’s so ugly. So, so ugly that I was sure it was going to taste gross. I grabbed a teaspoon and dipped it into the drink and had a little taste – then BOOM! Don’t judge a smoothie by its colour I say! Divine!

This smoothie is FULL of goodness! Some of the ingredients you may never heard of before, or do not have in your pantry but like all good smoothie recipes you can swap things around.

Just so you know, here is some health info about some of the ingredients in this powerful smoothie:

– Raw Organic Mesquite Powder: high protein, calcium, magnesium, lysine (amino acid)

– Maca Powder: high protein (20+ amino acids), EFAs, alkaloids (stimulates master glands)

– Chia Seeds: omega oils, Vitamin B2, antioxidants, Vitamin E (4x more than blueberries), high in fibre, complete protein (18 amino acids, 8 essential ones), calcium (5x more than milk), iron (3x more than spinach), magnesium (15x more than broccoli), potassium (2x more than bananas), folate

– Raw Cacao Powder: beta-carotene, amino acids, Omega-3 EFA’s, calcium, zinc, iron, copper, sulphur, potassium, magnesium

That’s nothing on my ugly smoothy. It has chia/maca/cacao nibs/flaxseed/bee pollen/goji berries/coconut oil/hemp seeds/probiotic powder and other ‘good’ things plus coconut water and a banana but the killer is I put in green powder (Spirullina/Chlorella/Marine Algae) as well as frozen blueberries and together the green and purple equal grey. If I don’t put enough liquad in it is grey sludge, like worthy of an industrial clean up. If I add Turmeric it goes khaki. Ugliest moothie ever!

I appreciate your candor and honesty about the taste of some of your smoothies. I am curious as to where I could purchase a couple of the ingredients namely: maca and mesquite powder. Thank you for all that you publish. It has inspired me to do better and be better.

    Yours in health.

A few years ago I found out I was ill with AS, IBS and started suffering from frequent UTI’s with Klebs. Though I was a veggie eater that was not enough. I did find it easy to change my eating habits and today everything in my mouth is pure healthy. Love your Blog and I do share some of my own personal recipes ( I now have over 100). Yes, I have heard of the GAPS diet and have tried some of them and I love them! Thanks for sharing your smoothie not only does it look not ugly but I cant wait to try it. Looks delish!

Hi Katrina, your blog has really inspired me. Thanks for putting togedther so much useful information. How has Kirk’s AS been going on the NSD? Is he still pain free?
